SELECT AND REFINE EVERY ELEMENT

custom drapery

The single most impactful design element in every room: your window treatments. The cost of quality drapery and shades can become a significant portion of the total cost of finish materials. Harlan & Hazel will collaborate with semi-custom and custom trade rooms  that specialize in extraordinary outcomes. On occasion, the best approach is to have H&H (Kat herself) produce and finish the drapery - letting us perfect our vision and hit our budget goals.

Custom furniture fixtures & antiques

H&H works with a select group of trusted furniture makers to provide a wide range of styles and upholstery possibilities.  By choosing specialized to-the-trade partners, nearly every element has an opportunity to become bespoke: light fixtures, uniquely shaped area rugs, art frames, textiles, tile and pottery. Each piece contributes to an original space and your functional goals.  Harlan & Hazel will also work with existing and found pieces that are  ready for  upholstery workrooms - bringing new life to worthy heirlooms.

Starting with the local antiques scene, to the regional, and beyond to the vast world of online vendors, there are so many opportunities to add a vintage and soulful piece to your space. Older pieces of furniture are an ethical choice in an age of consumer waste and “fast furniture” - and they are solidly built and often joyfully designed.  Invest in pieces that can be cared for and passed through the generations.  Let H&H do the shopping, identifying notable pieces of particular historic styles that will enliven your space.  H&H takes inspiration from the masters of design that artfully weave the old and new into their rooms - it is part of the magic of creating a space with layers of life and storytelling.
